Movement as Method

Curated Experiences for Radical Imagination & Embodied Motion

Three colorfully dressed BIPOC sitting in a park on different colored quilts and blankets talking around a boom microphone.

I instigate play

and pleasure through creative whimsy, making space for grief and unfiltered expression. Working through movement and performance, I use the body as a portal for connection, care, and remembering.

Rooted in Black feminist lineage, my work honors the body as sovereign…

Sometimes life feels like a dumpster fire cluster fuck. Welcome to Fuckery Refuge, an immersive mediocrity experience for recovering over achievers and parentified people pleasers. The baddies with the unexplained thiiii-thic saddies. Lets take refuge under our pillows and get comfy as the passenger princess or prince we really are. Saddle up the training wheels, lay your ass down, and give this the worst you got!

Pull Up!

One half of the image is of a melanated person sits relaxed with their legs open while leaning back against a wall in a blue room. Other half of image as the words "QTBIPOC Pilates 101 with Momo. Wednesdays 7pm-8pm In The Gym" written on it.

Every Wednesday, 7pm-8pm PST at Radically Fit (1035 22nd Avenue, Unit 5, Oakland, CA)

Join me as we interweave slow, rhythmic exercises that will focus on our entire being as a temple - our physical body from bottom to top. Intensity and pace will build throughout class to elevate our heart rates and collective energy.

We honor our black pilates elders, specifically Kathy Stanford Grant (who trained under Joseph Pilates himself). She was a first generation pilates instructor that brought pilates to the United States. She was also an acclaimed choreographer and performance artist. While this is an ass-building workout, it is also about carrying on the legacy of our ancestors and the reclamation of Mo’s Bay Area roots, uplifting dark skin hot girl/hot queer rappers, and creating spaciousness for body neutrality.

GET IN THAT CLASS! MOMO IS ABOUT TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
— Dr. April Warren-Grice (she/her)
You’re gonna have so much fun and feel grounded.
— Cassidy (they/them)
My favorite thing about Mo’s classes is how they enthusiastically cheer us on regardless of what the move is or how fully we do it. When I feel like I’m at 20% or less, Mo treats me like I’m still giving 100%. They are always encouraging and offering mindful modifications.
— Shah Noor (they/them)
I’ve taken several of Mo’s twerk healing classes, and every time I get to shake my ass and throw it in a circle with them, my body tells me to take up more and more space. It’s like, the more that it jiggles and wiggles, it wants to be seen and heard and respected and loved. It’s screaming “TAKE UP ALL THE SPACEEEEEE”.
